Barwon Health believes healthcare planned for and provided in partnership with consumers is safer, of higher quality and leads to service improvement that meets the needs of consumers and the community.
Working in partnership with consumers makes the work of Barwon Health transparent and improves accountability to the community Barwon Health serves. We can provide inclusive, safe and discrimination-free services because our consumers show us how.
The Partnering with Consumers Framework is our way of showcasing what these partnerships look like today, and how we are striving to improve them into the future.

Barwon Health has made an ongoing commitment to partnering with consumers. We achieve this by partnering at the individual patient level, at the service level and at the system level.
At the individual level, we partner with patients by providing care that is consistent with their healthcare rights.
We partner with consumers at the service level by ensuring Consumer Advisors are members of working groups, committees, project groups, focus groups, forums, public meetings and research formed to design and improve services.
We partner with consumers at the system level by involving Consumer Advisors in our key governance committees. The most important committee that connects our community to the Barwon Health Board is the Community Advisory Committee.
